James Cameron addressed the news that actress Eliza Dushku was "sexually molested" by Hollywood stunt coordinator Joel Kramer.on the set of his film True Lies.

In a lengthy Facebook post, the actress, now 37, detailed how Joel Kramer, 60, a "leading" fixture in the business, established a rapport with Dushku and her parents before sexually abusing her while working together on the 1994 action-comedy film.

Dushku accuses Kramer, who has denied the allegations, of luring her to his hotel room and promising her parents that he would take her swimming at the True Lies stunt crew's hotel pool.

Dushku writes that she felt compelled to speak out after being "haunted" by seeing a photo of Kramer with a young girl, and praises other women in Hollywood who have come forward to name their alleged abusers. Cameron was in front of a room full of press at Winter 2018 TCA to promote his docuseries AMC Visionaries: James Cameron's Story of Sci-Fi.

"She said, 'Look, Eliza has a big crush on you, she is always asking me, 'Oh, I bet Joel is dating all the women, ' 'I bet Joel is screwing a lot of women, ' so I said then we have to be careful with this one", he told Us. "It's heartbreaking that it happened to her".

"I know the other party-not well", Cameron said. "I am grateful to the women and men who have gone before me in recent months", she wrote. "Now especially that I have daughters there would really have been no mercy".

Dushku, who is now engaged, vividly described that once the then-36-year-old brought her to the room he turned down the lights, put on a movie, and went to the bathroom from which we emerged naked, "bearing nothing but a small hand towel held flimsy at his mid-section".

In the post, that has been shared with her 1.3m followrs, she explained that she was coming forward with her story years later thanks to the victims who have spoken out amid the accusations of sexual misconduct that have rocked Hollywood. "He was supposed to be my protector, he was my abuser", Dushku writes. Kramer called her account "atrocious lies" and denied her claim that he gave her the nickname of "Jailbait".

Kramer said he and his team did spend time with Dushku swimming and taking her out for sushi, at her request he says, but claims that he was never alone with her. Eliza played the daughter of Arnold and Jamie Lee Curtis in the film and admitted she has "struggled with how and when to disclose this, if ever". "I just don't know what is going through her mind". "At that age they are impressionable and my job as a stunt coordinator was to get Eliza to trust us, because she has to do stunts, she has to be in harnesses". "I think this is kind of a great moment in history".
