As of early Monday morning, 56 trains arrived late, 20 were rescheduled and 15 trains were cancelled. Besides train services, flights have been affected as well.

"Some 20 domestic and global flights have been delayed and six have been cancelled to and from Delhi's Indira Gandhi worldwide Airport owing to low runway visibility because of dense fog", a senior aviation official said.

Meanwhile, despite the morning chill and dense fog, the Republic Day parade rehearsal took place.

At least 34 domestic and worldwide flights were delayed, while three were cancelled.

Fog safety devices have been installed in the trains, courtesy of Indian Railways, so that the trains can work on their scheduled times and the passengers won't have to wait for even more span of time.

The national capital is facing severe fog conditions.

Delhi continues to be shrouded in dense fog for the fourth consecutive day, which has severely affected services at both the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and the railway stations.

Heavy fog on January 1 had forced the airport authorities to suspend all flights for several hours before visibility returned.

The airline is also allowing passengers to change or cancel their flight bookings without any penalty. According to the India Meteorological Department, general visibility improved to 200 metres at IGI as compared to zero metres the past two days, reports PTI.
