As protests spread across various states, the film's 1 December release was deferred.

Jan 17: Supreme Court clears release of Padmaavat. In one stroke, Akshay made himself out to be the hero rescuing Padmaavat from its crisis.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Lotwara said that everyone is feeling insulted, hurt and agitated after the Supreme Court's decision to reject petitions of state governments of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, as well as Karni Sena, for ban on the film. A statement issued by Navi Mumbai Commissioner of Police Hemant Nagrale said that 20-25 miscreants burnt seven to eight tyres on Sion-Panvel Highway to protest against the release of Padmaavat.

The Pad Man hero announced this in a press conference on request of iconic Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Another Karni Sena leader Lokendra Singh asked social organizations across the country to make sure that the movie is not shown in cinema halls.

Ricky Kumar of Sujata Cinema said, "The movie owners have conducted a meeting with the members of Rajput Karni Sena and have also submitted a letter to SSP".

"There were so many films earlier, but nobody really bothered".

Overall, Padmaavat is a must watch for all the Sanjay Leela Bhansali fans and performance lovers.

Whatever their motivations though, it seems that both the much-awaited films have got their share of positive response and limelight from their fans, who are geared up for a couple of power-packed weeks of cinema-going. Based on the epic poem Padmavat (1540) by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, The film features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmavati, alongside Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji.

Even after the Apex Court clearance and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approval, the protesters are still adamant over banning the film.

He also urged other state governments that want a ban to come together to approach the Supreme Court.

Padmaavat is being lauded by critics, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor's smiling faces too prove that they are thrilled by the response.
