The English selectors made a decision to give James Vince one more opportunity.

England, who has lost The Ashes 0-4, will play their first ODI against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.

In his first senior match outside of club cricket, Harvey hit four sixes, including one over third man off the first ball he faced from quick Mark Wood and another over cover from Liam Plunkett.

The 24 year-old, who is a graduate of the Lancashire Cricket Academy, was recently named Club Captain having averaged over 50 in the Specsavers County Championship in 2017.

"It does seem remarkable that despite their repeated collective failure in the Ashes, England's top and middle order are set to remain unchanged" @Aggerscricket on the NZ Test squad.

Earlier, captain Matt Renshaw - the only player with senior worldwide experience in the side - blew his best chance to impress Australian selectors ahead of March's tour of South Africa when he was caught behind for 25. He played a couple of T20I games in South Africa but couldn't make his mark in the team.

England squad: Joe Root (Captain), Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, Mason Crane, Ben Foakes, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Craig Overton, Ben Stokes, Mark Stoneman, James Vince, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.

"They've had a very challenging Ashes series but it's still a very talented group of boys and I still think it's a very exciting time for English cricket", he added.

The ECB selectors have kept the controversial all-rounder in the loop despite the investigation.

"They were playing against one of the best attacks in the world in their home conditions and showed the potential they have".

Stokes has proved his all-round abilities in the longest format of the game. He has scored just two half-centuries in 20 Test innings and has been out numerous times in similar fashion: caught behind the wicket playing expansively outside the off-stump. He has also done well with the ball despite his journey with the team in the past two years being a roller-coaster ride.

And he has become the first Cumbrian-born player to be called-up for a Test series since Paul Nixon was in the squad - but did not play - for the tour of Sri Lanka and Pakistan in 2000/01.

The England squad will arrive in New Zealand on March 9 before two two-day warm-up matches against New Zealand A one of which is a day-night match.
