"Weather conditions will become risky this afternoon in parts of northern Minnesota from International Falls through Walker, and the Brainerd Lakes area".

The unsafe winter conditions will spread across northeastern Minnesota and the Twin Ports this evening.

Snow is expected with slippery road conditions including during the evening commute.

The watch included the Iron Range, areas of the Arrowhead away from Lake Superior, and International Falls.

The cold front is expected to bring "strong" north winds with gusts of 40 miles per hour, according to the NWS. The winds also will bring a drop in temperatures that may lead roads to become ice-covered as the snow starts to fall.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. A winter storm warning is in effect from noon Monday until midnight Monday night across west central Minnesota. Strong wind mix with falling snow and snow on the ground will cause blowing and drifting.

Total snow accumulations of 12 to 24 inches are possible in the most persistent snow bands in Batavia and Genesee County. Blowing snow Monday night into Tuesday.
