Rose, 27 has never hidden his intention to join a bigger club to compete for the biggest trophies on offer.

This news comes ahead of numerous United links to Spurs' Danny Rose, with a proposed £45m January deal looking likely to materialise.

With that said and done, the Portuguese manager is looking to find a proper defender who can play on the left hand side of his back-line, with Luke Shaw ready to be offloaded and Ashley Young filling that spot at present. The star has been unhappy at Wembley and his remarks about the club's transfer policy have seen him get a lot of stick, though he was the best left-back in the top flight of English football last term.

This is mainly due to Rose being left out of key Spurs squads for recent matches, including the north London derby defeat to Arsenal.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Mourinho thinks the England worldwide will arrive at Old Trafford next month.

But Rose is facing an uncertain future at Tottenham after being dropped for Tottenham's 2-1 loss to Leicester City mid-week following his criticism of Mauricio Pochettino's team selection.

The Fulham youngster is also even-money to make the white half of North London his next destination, making Tottenham clear favourites for his signature.

Rose is the main full-back target as it stands, and would cost up to £50m from Tottenham, but United sources say the Old Trafford hierarchy feel the fact he has not been in Mauricio Pochettino's team as much of late could aid them.

The news will come as a blow to Fenerbahce who are also interested in signing the England worldwide.
