Manchester City ready to make ridiculous January bid for Alexis Sanchez

Manchester City will return with a big offer for Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez in January, as they attempt to finally clinch the deal that Pep Guardiola was desperate for in the summer. This means that unless Arsenal cash in on Sanchez in January, he will walk away from the club on a free transfer in the summer.

Miguel Delaney of The Independent claims that sources within City feel that with the addition of Alexis, the Blues can push for a Premier League and Champions League double this season, explaining the urgency to bring in the 28-year-old.

Arsenal are still hopeful of extended Mesut Ozil's contract before the transfer window re-opens in January.

The same view is understood to stand now, although Arsenal would still not let Sanchez go cheaply.

Asked whether the duo would remain in north London, Wenger said last month: "I am not the only one who can decide that".

Wenger is very much likely to play another second-string side when they take on the Belarusian outfit in north London on Thursday.

"He makes the best choice most of the time".

There is a huge likelihood that the pair are playing their hearts out in their bid to attract interest from potential suitors with their futures being up in the air, but there could well be the possibility that they are fighting to stay also.

Manchester City still want to sign Alexis Sanchez.

City, however, are aware of the need to table a sizeable offer, potentially in the £50m region, for the forward and are reportedly prepared to do so, despite the fact they could sign the former Barcelona and Udinese player for free at the end of the season.
