The "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer was rushed to the hospital Tuesday for an appendectomy and is now recovering, according to his spokeswoman, Anna Loynes.

"John Mayer is recovering from the emergency appendectomy he underwent yesterday and is in good spirits", according to a news release from Scoop Marketing issued on December 6.

Mayer also shared a tweet on Wednesday thanking fans for their well-wishes. "Had surgery yesterday and woke up to see some amazingly kind and loving tweets".

Ticketholders can rest assured: tickets for these shows will be honored for the rescheduled dates.

John had been due to perform with Dead & Company at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans later the same day, but the concert was postponed due to his condition. Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann along with Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti then played a second night at MSG before bringing the run to Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Hartford, Detroit, Columbus, Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas and Austin.

Dead and Company issued a statement concerning the health of their frontman John Mayer. "John wants to reschedule for a new date as soon as possible, and we'll let you know as soon as the new date is confirmed". "John is so disappointed the show can't happen next Tuesday, but this is not a cancellation - it's a rescheduling".
