Jada Pinkett Smith, 46, tweeted a criticism of the Hollywood Foreign Press over how Tiffany Haddish, 38, and Girls Trip were both overlooked by the Golden Globes nominations. It was a favourite of many people and one of the stars, actress-comedian Tiffany Haddish, won a New Yolk Film Circle award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film.

Haddish was tagged in the actress' tweets, though the comedienne hasn't tweeted since December 8.

The 2018 Golden Globe nominees for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy are Judi Dench (Victoria & Abdul), Margot Robbie (I, Tonya), Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), Emma Stone (Battle of the Sexes), and Helen Mirren (The Leisure Seeker). "I'm discouraged about the fact that the Hollywood Foreign Press/@goldenglobes wouldn't even WATCH the movie", she said. Many people were hoping that it would also reel her in a nom for the Golden Globes being that Girls Trip was eligible this year.

In the next few minutes she tweeted: 'How could a nom happen & how much more critical acclaim must a movie have to simply get a screening?'

"The fact that the brilliance of "The Big Sick" went unnoticed and the fact that one of the most prolific films of the year, 'Get Out, ' is considered a comedy illuminates the depths of the sunken place for real", she concluded. Originally, this award was given to up-and-coming actors and has evolved into an award for celebrity children, this year's victor being Dwayne Johnson's daughter Simone.

"Girls Trip" not only received high praise from critics, but it also became the first comedy of the year to pass the $100 million mark at the box office. Haddish was also included in NYT Magazine's exceptional group of actors in this year's Great Performers issue.

The film's director, Jordan Peele, actually addressed the category controversy in November, explaining that it "didn't register to me as an issue", as there was no ideal fit for the genre-bending social thriller. Haddish's castmates in the film were all industry veterans and yet her raw comedic ability still managed to steal the comedy.

If Haddish wasn't worthy of an award or even a nomination, that would be one thing.
