Elmira Salvation Army Receives Gold Coin Donation

With only 12 days remaining in the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign, the organization has raised a little over 120-thousand dollars.

According to a news release, the donation bin, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, was taken Friday night. Holyoke's Salvation Army chairperson Ann McConnell said, "We couldn't be more happy with the turnout".


Police have not said whether or not any suspects have been identified.

To donate, you can stop by the Salvation Army between 9 and 4 on 8th Street or mail them to the Salvation Army, Box 1362, Joplin, MO 64802.


The ringers started staffing kettles on the 25th of November. "My first experience with The Salvation Army was as a child at Christmas with the gift of a basketball". All of the more than 600 children on the Angel Tree this year have been adopted!

She is now 11-years-old, but family members say they don't think the tradition will end any time soon. Along with helping people during the holiday season, it also benefits programs that provide food, clothing, and utility assistance year round.
