Dylan Farrow Rips Hollywood, Media for Ignoring Woody Allen Sex Misconduct Claims

She noted that while many in showbusiness have been taken down over their accusations, Allen was able to release his latest film Wonder Wheel starring Winslet and Justin Timberlake last week.

Farrow went on to call out actresses like Kate Winslet, Blake Lively, and director Greta Gerwig, who have been vocal proponents of the #MeToo movement, yet have chose to work with Allen despite sexual assault allegations. Of Allen, she said "I didn't know Woody and I don't know anything about that family". In the end, when a fluttery, whiskey-soaked Ginny (in full Blanche DuBois mode) barks, "Oh God, spare me the bad drama", you'll think: from her lips to Woody's ears. "He understands the female characters he creates exceptionally well. His female characters are always so rich and large and honest in terms of how they're feeling and he just knows how to write dialogue for them to communicate all that", she added on a serious note.

In fact, it's this very dogged familiarity that ultimately dooms "Wonder Wheel", the innovative cinematography and dynamic visual flourishes squandered in the service of Allen's exhausted, predictable peccadilloes.

"I have long maintained that when I was 7 years old, Woody Allen led me into an attic, away from the babysitters who had been instructed never to leave me alone with him", Farrow claims in her op-ed. "I loved her and hope one day she will grasp how she has been cheated out of having a loving father and exploited by a mother more interested in her own festering anger than her daughter's well-being". I'm an actor; he's a director.

Woody Allen's adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow, wants to know why. I've heard and read exactly what you've heard and read. Now, Carolina's on the run from her abusive husband and his goombah gang, who are all rightfully anxious that she knows too much about their business. I was cracking. I had to say something. "I could [only] know my experience".

Although Farrow is clearly frustrated with the inconsistencies in how contemporary Allen stars address the controversy associated with the director, she assigns some of the blame to the his powerful PR machine, which she says tends to deny access to journalists who intend to ask Allen hard questions.

That accuser is Woody Allen's daughter Dylan Farrow, who called out Hollywood stars for continuing to work with the iconic filmmaker despite her longstanding allegation that he molested her as a child in 1992.

The director Wednesday Soon-Yi Previn in 1997, a union that also garnered controversy, as Previn is the adopted daughter of Allen's ex-wife Mia Farrow. But "Wonder Wheel" takes that performance and crushes it beneath its heavy-handed heel, until there's nothing left but memories of better Winslet roles - and better Allen movies. The allegations were investigated by sex-abuse experts at Yale-New Haven Hospital and no charges were ever filed. Allen was never prosecuted for the alleged assault and has vigorously denied the claim.

In her third example, Farrow calls out Gerwig who she says referred to Allen as her "idol".

Mickey also mentions during the opening that Coney Island has slowly begun to become a seedier destination, but one can't help but feel he must be in his own beachside paradise as sensuality, wisdom, and broken marriages reveal their wear and tear, in turn, placing him in a complex love triangle. "Why is it that Harvey Weinstein and other accused celebrities have been cast out by Hollywood, while Allen recently secured a multimillion-dollar distribution deal with Amazon, greenlit by former Amazon Studios executive Roy Price before he was suspended over sexual misconduct allegations?" No other allegations of sexual misconduct have been brought against Allen, though the director was criticized for making what some perceived as a sympathetic statement about Weinstein.
