It is also now being reported that former Kansas City Chiefs general manager John Dorsey is expected to emerge as a leading contender to replace Brown. Hue Jackson remains, though, and the announcement of Sashi Brown's dismissal included the note that he would be coach of the Browns next regardless of who is brought in as the team's new personnel decision-maker.

It will now be interesting to see if Dorsey indeed winds up being hired to replace Brown in Cleveland and if he has any issues with Jackson remaining the team's heads coach.

While Browns are now looking to finish 2017-18 on a high note, yet another No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick is likely on the horizon for the struggling AFC North franchise.

CLEVELAND (AP) - One win in two seasons cost Sashi Brown his job with the Browns.

The next GM will be the Browns' ninth since 1999, and will be the fourth leader of the front office that Haslam has hired since his purchase of the team from Randy Lerner was approved by the league's owners on October 16, 2012.

Brown was named the team's top executive by the Haslams during an overhaul following the 2015 season.

But the important thing to remember is that Jackson and Haslam are staying. McCarron prior to the NFL's October 31 trade deadline.

Brown's replacement will have five draft picks in the first two rounds next spring to work with, including two picks - the Browns' and Texans' first-round selections - that should fall in the top 10.

Brown's regime has been marked with strikeouts at the quarterback position, namely trading out of the No. 2 spot in the 2016 National Football League draft as Philadelphia moved up to select Carson Wentz.
