Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann is a "top player" and would be "welcome" at Barcelona, says Jordi Alba.

The 26-year-old was initially unrepentant in a follow-up post, as he insisted he had done nothing wrong.

The French forward chose to reject a move to United last summer to remain at Atletico Madrid - who were under a player registration ban - and looks set to spurn a move to England once more.

FC Barcelona club sports relations officer Guillermo Amor has confirmed that the club has held talks about a possible move for Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

The Spain worldwide defender told Onda Cero on the Griezmann rumours: "We are talking about a top player that has been doing really very at Atletico in recent years, any reinforcement would be welcome.

Instead of saying "I don't think that's racist", put yourself in others shoes, read a little and then say 'ok, I hear ya'".

The Catalan club are yet to make official with Atletico over activating Griezmann's release clause but Mundo Deportivo understands there should be no problem there, with the two club's sharing a good relationship. "If I hurt some people excuse me".

Griezmann has become one of the most widely coveted players in the world over recent years, and was pursued by United over the summer.

He has said on the ongoing transfer talk: "Griezmann is a great player who is on another team, he is not in ours".
