Amazon Prime Video Finally Comes to Apple TV

As noted by Spanish Apple news site Applesfera, Apple seems to be prepping the App Store for the launch of Amazon Prime Video for Apple TV.

Amazon is now engaged in a feud with Google over voice-enabled products and access to video services, but that's hardly Amazon's only silly battle.

The app allows Amazon Prime Video subscribers to watch TV shows and movies from the service using only the fourth-generation Apple TV and the fifth-generation Apple TV 4K.

Amazon stopped selling Apple TV in the fall of 2015 after Bezos said he didn't want his customers to buy a device that wasn't compatible with Amazon's video app.

The 4K Apple TV costs £179 for a 32GB model, £199 for a version with 64GB of storage. Given the benefit to both Prime Video and Apple TV users, it's good to see they can agree on at least one thing.

It's safe to say that Apple TV buyers do not buy it exclusively for watching Prime Video, but sure. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said a year ago that the e-commerce giant would not sell Apple's streaming TV box unless his company's Prime Video app could be installed on the Apple device. The best way to find it, notes 9 to 5 Mac, is to search Amazon in the tvOS store, select Amazon Shopping then scroll down in the "more by this developer" section.

"Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and Fire TV", Google said.
