Giroud was on the verge of moving to Everton during the summer, before the 31-year-old chose to remain at the Emirates and fight for his place.

It was revealed on Saturday that Olivier Giroud had also pulled out of his worldwide duty, returning from the France squad with a thigh injury. He trusts in me and I try to give it back on the pitch when I can.

However, the Frenchman is not concerned at the turn of events and recently staked his claim in the Gunners' first-team with a well-worked goal against Wales in an worldwide friendly where France emerged 2-0 winners, having already qualified for the World Cup in 2018.

"They're a great team with so many options so it was a tough task for us tonight", Arsenal midfielder Ramsey told BBC Sport .

'For the moment I am not questioning myself about my future. We will see what happens but I am happy at Arsenal for the moment.

Giroud says he is targeting Jean-Pierre Papin's goal record for France.

Giroud added: "I'm sure he (Wenger) was watching nearly all the games especially because Aaron was playing too".

"You're always the first person people point to if the team don't score, but the thing is that I score and I'm doing well with the team".

Ramsey has scored three goals in 10 Premier League appearances for the North Londoners this season.

"I have a lot of objectives with Arsenal and my country so I always try to move forward and keep scoring". That's more important for me.

"It's always a pleasure to play for the national team and I think we played a good game".
