Locally, most small businesses will be closed on Thanksgiving, including Coborns' local competitor, Marketpace.

Several grocery stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day to help meet your needs.

The origin of the term does come from all the business of the shopping that is done on the day after Thanksgiving, and is said to have been coined by The Philadelphia Police Department.

Macy's at Union Square in San Francisco is open 5 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day 2017.

Dozens of retailers have made a decision to open their doors on Thanksgiving night, a shift that's happened over the past several years. Keep in mind that some individual stores may be open later or close earlier. The Pharmacy hours at stores will vary.

Dollar General will be open from 7:00 am - 10 pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Belk: Opens at 4 p.m. All pharmacies will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Throughout the years, retailers have felt that the term "Black Friday" was too negative as Black Monday was the name given to the day the Dow Jones historically plummeted in the '80s and Black Thursday was the day the Great Depression started.

Target: Opens at 6 p.m.

Coborns Grocery Store, as well as the Little Dukes Gas Station and the Coborns Liquor Store in Albertville, will remain open for Thanksgiving. Check with your store for details.
