Terrorists attack police party in Jammu and Kashmir; one cop martyred

Three militants travelling in a vehicle opened fire on a police team at the Zakura crossing on Srinagar-Ganderbal road, killing sub-inspector Imran Tak and injuring to a special police officer (SPO), a police official said.

Deputy Cief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today expressed grief over the killing of Sub Inspector Mr. Imran Tak, who was killed by the militants in Zakura area of Srinagar district.

He said the injured policemen were hospitalised, where critically injured sub-inspector Imran succumbed to injuries.


Meanwhile, massive protests are being reported from Parimpora area of Srinagar.

He said that it was not an attack, but a shootout on the police party after security forces launched an operation in the area.

"SI had opened fire", another police officer when contacted, said.


However, the police officer said he is unsure where from his body was recovered.

"There will also be partial restrictions in Maisuma and Kralkhud police stations of Srinagar", Shah said.

When contacted, a police officer in Parmpora said he does not know where Mir was killed.


Sources said Mugees belonged to Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind, an Al-Qaeda Kashmir cell headed by Zakir Moosa. "There are various versions, one saying that he was killed in Kulgam but I do not know", he said on phone.
