The OnePlus 5T is also the first smartphone from the company to use some form of facial recognition technology that can be used to unlock the phone. Meanwhile, delivery estimates have predictably begun to expand from the OEM's official e-stores, with new United States buyers for instance looking at an eight-day wait at the time of writing.

During the OnePlus forums AMA, the company also confirmed that the OnePlus 5 and 5T will share the same software update cycle of the OnePlus 3 and 3T, and all of those devices will be upgraded to Android 8.1 Oreo.

With Project Treble, OEMs will be able to speed up the process of rolling out software updates, which means devices that will support the feature will be receiving updates more often and faster than before.

It's hardly surprising that OnePlus has made a decision to drop the OnePlus 5 from its line-up.

OnePlus 5T is not much different from the OnePlus 5 in terms of design. According to OnePlus, the handset's camera is designed in a manner so as to deliver quality performance especially in low-light settings. The OnePlus 5 will now be discontinued when it sells out.

Unfortunately, OnePlus also mentioned that these devices will not support the Project Treble feature of Android Oreo.

The new OnePlus smartphone is backed by the same battery as the OnePlus 5.

The USP of the device is the full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio.

"We are not now supporting Treble, and do not plan to for these [OnePlus 3/ 3T and 5/ 5T] devices", said Adam Krisko during the AMA session on official OnePlus forum. The 6GB RAM+64GB storage variant is priced at Rs 32,999 and the 8GB RAM+128GB internal storage variant will bear the price tag of Rs 37,999.
