One Person Shot at South Carolina Upstate

The University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg in the United States was briefly placed on lockdown amid reports of shooting at a nearby apartment complex.

According to Tammy Whaley, a USC Upstate spokesperson, one individual has been shot and is suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

There is said to be an active shooter situation near the University of SC, with one person believed to have been shot.

The lockdown was lifted just before 2 p.m., officials said in a tweet.

Witnesses described hearing five shots fired at the Campus Edge Apartments.

Chief Peterson said the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office is also responding to the call.

So far, at least one person has been wounded in the shooting, later clarified to be a wound in the arm.

Bobo said after the wounded man was taken to the hospital, he changed his account of what happened, and he is not cooperating with investigators.

A tweet from the university described the shooter as wearing khaki trousers and a grey "hoodie", carrying an automatic weapon.
