Spanish outlet Dario Gol states that Messi is 'against Barcelona signing Arsenal's Mesut Ozil in January'.

"I don't think he would be a bad signing", Keown wrote in the Daily Mail.

A club rarely sells a quality player to their direct rival, and Arsenal does not seems to be in any mood to let Ozil sign for Manchester United, who might be keeping a close tab on Ozil's contract condition.

"But the next step for him was to become a Messi- or a [Cristiano] Ronaldo-type player - more ruthless".

AS understand Ozil has told Barcelona he wants €19m-a-year [£17m] to move to the Nou Camp in the winter window, and is also demanding a signing on fee. When he's happy, he plays well.

In addition, it has been said that Catalan giants Barcelona is his preferred destination, with Goretzka reportedly already holding talks with Ernesto Valverde.

Just as Coutinho's transfer presents problems for Barcelona, so does that of Ozil, with the column stating his financial demands are simply "unacceptable".

Ozil has scored once and provided three assists in 10 Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season.

According to numerous news sources, including AS, Barcelona are set to take advantage of the contract of a player fast running out.

Now only that, even if Barcelona wanted to pay such a salary, there's worry over whether Ozil would fit in with the club's dressing room.

The German global looks set to run down his contract by the end of the season and has hardly engaged in significant efforts to extend his stay in North London.
