Katie Cassidy Breaks Silence, Shares Dad David's Last Words

They grew closer as Katie pursued a career in Hollywood, with David serving as more of a friend than a father.

Shaun and David shared a father: Jack Cassidy.

"I wasn't her father". "I tried to catch him of course".

She wrote: "Prob the reason I have always dated skinny boys". But I never could. "I want to love".

After his death, Cassidy's family members were united in mourning.

"Because I didn't raise her, I didn't have to parent her", David Cassidy shared with People back in 2009.

"Probably one of the highlights of my life was being on Broadway with my brother Shaun", David once said, according to Masslive.

Despite the success, there were periods of darkness and perhaps that is where Cassidy's regrets lie.

Thirteen years later, all four Cassidy brothers worked together on the ABC Family sitcom Ruby and the Rockits. "My father's last words were 'So much wasted time, '" Cassidy's daughter tweeted Friday.

Her relationship with her father soured towards the end and David Cassidy confessed in February that the two weren't talking.

"I had never before gotten a regional show in the state of Florida", Patrick Cassidy said.

Cassidy died on Tuesday from organ failure stemming from his short battle with dementia.

The 21-year-old singer uploaded a short video of David playing Keith Partridge in the hit 1970s TV series performing the song "I Woke Up In Love This Morning" with his co-stars Shirley Jones, Danny Bonaduce, Susan Dey and Brian Foster.

A spokesperson for the star said: "David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long".
