The Utah Jazz will be without the services of centre Rudy Gobert after an MRI revealed the Frenchman incurred a right tibia contusion in Friday night's game with the Miami Heat.

Gobert was injured when Heat guard Dion Waiters collided with him, and Gobert believed it was a dirty play. He missed the following game, however, a 114-106 Utah win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday before being ruled out for an extended time. Last season Gobert dealt with a sprained MCL after bumping knees with Houston Rockets forward Luc Richard Mbah A Moute.

"I was feeling a little sore. I think it was a dirty play, but no matter what the most important thing is to keep getting better and to win tomorrow". I know that my ligaments were fine, so it was just pain.

Dion Waiters took exception to that comment.

Several television replays don't necessarily suggest whether Waiters intentionally tried to hurt Gobert. He tweeted, "Dove for the ball right ..." accompanied by video of the play.

On top of that, Gobert's maintained averages of 13.9 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 62 percent from the field.

The 25-year-old's been great defensively over his career, being named to the All-Defensive First Team and leading the association in blocks a season ago. Stay tuned for the latest Rudy Gobert injury update.
