Lizzy Caplan is going to be Bella Donna Boudreaux in the Gambit movie.

Lizzy Caplan will take the female lead opposite Channing Tatum in Fox's superhero film Gambit, according to Variety. Verbinski evidently elected to recast the role, and the script has nearly certainly underwent significant changes under his purview, so at this point, it's unclear if Caplan is taking over the role of 'Bella, ' or whether she'll play an entirely different character. She has also wrapped the sci-fi thriller Extinction, which pairs her with Michael Peña.

Caplan will next be seen in James Franco's The Disaster Artist on December 6 alongside Franco, his brother Dave and Alison Brie. In the TV realm, Caplan's credits include Freaks and Geeks, True Blood, The Class and Party Down, but she's best known for portraying Virginia Johnson on Showtime's Masters of Sex. She will play the female lead but no other plot details have been revealed.

In Marvel Comics lore, Bella Donna Boudreaux was created by Jim Lee and Scott Lobdell, a child hood friend of Remy LeBeau aka Gambit, Unbeknownst to them both, they came from rival Guilds (those of Thieves and Assassins, respectively). We are of course completely erasing that X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie from our minds. Although Nathaniel Essex, a.k.a. Mister Sinister, was also mentioned in that report to appear in Gambit (having already been teased in X-Men: Apocalypse), another rumor broke last month claiming that Candra will serve as the main antagonist.

Gambit expected to release in February 2019.
