Now, he's attempting what could be his greatest trick yet.

Plummer will instead replace Spacey, immediately re-shooting all the scenes already filmed by Spacey in order to keep to its December 22 premiere date.

Although the reshoots are expected to take some time, Deadline reported that Scott is determined to keep the film's December 22 release date. And so I thought, that was it. Ages ago I was in contention for [the role], way back. "I've got an offer to play a great role".

Actor Christopher Plummer (L) is pictured arriving at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards in Toronto, Ontario March 13, 2016, and Kevin Spacey (R) is pictured at the 71st Tony Awards in New York City, U.S., June 11, 2017 in this combination of file photos. "I admire Ridley very much", Plummer explained to a gaggle of journalists when he was asked how he became involved. "But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior". "It's so sad, it's such a shame, and that's all I can say".

In a shocking move, Scott made a decision to pull the thriller amidst the allegations of sexual assault and harassment involving Spacey and re-shoot the scenes with Plummer with the co-operation of stars Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams. So I was familiar with it, and then Ridley came to me and I agreed.

"It fascinates me because it's very clear and very well-written", he continued. The script was wonderful. Actor Anthony Rapp, who has been advanced by Spacey when he was only 14, was the first to come forward and numerous others have also come forward with accounts in the weekend since. He also used the opportunity to open up about his sexuality, saying "I choose now to live as a gay man". Eight male "House of Cards" employees have accused Spacey of harassment or groping, while just last week a Boston news anchor said Spacey groped her teenage son.

Spacey's ouster comes amid an increasing number of sexual assault allegations against the actor which have knocked Spacey from a number of projects slated to feature the two-time Academy Award victor.
