The NBA announced Friday Chicago's United Center will host the 2020 NBA All-Star Game. The league will officially announce the news on Friday, with National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver and Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel expected to attend.

It will be the first All-Star Game played in Chicago since 1988 and the first time it's ever been held at the United Center.

The Windy City is finally getting another shot at the marquee event. Jordan also won the second of his back-to-back dunk contest championships with his iconic slam from the free-throw line. It is my pleasure to be part of the National Basketball Association at a time when the All-Star Game and the surrounding festivities are coming back to town. I think I was sitting pretty high up in the arena at that time ... "We look forward to being here". A big reason it has taken so long to come back is that Jerry Reinsdorf didn't want anything to do with it but was convinced by his grandson, which was clearly tougher than convincing NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Los Angeles and Philadelphia have hosted four times each, while New Orleans, Houston and Phoenix have each hosted three times.
