3 dead in northern California shooting at home, school

Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told Action News Now that he was told the suspected shooter was killed by law enforcement officers.

More than 100 law enforcement personnel are in the area helping with investigating at least five scenes. "We have at least 5 scenes right now", a deputy said.


A helicopter medical crew reported they were transporting a 6-year-old victim with two gunshot wounds to Mercy Medical Center.

She reported seeing a Honda drive by with the windows shot out. The Enloe Medical Center confirmed to KNVN that three children and one adult were evacuated from the scene.


Sheriff Johnston said that a number of students have been airlifted out and that the uninjured students are now safe. There are also reports of several people injured.

The nearby Rancho Tehama Airport was placed on lockdown.


Rancho Tehama is a community of about 3,500 northwest of Corning.
