The LA Times report goes into more detail into some of the allegations, claiming that Toback is a serial predator who approaches women on the street in NY and offers them opportunities in the film industry, before luring them to secluded areas like his apartment, where he sexually harasses or propositions them. Gunn says he wrote online about Toback's reputation several times, going all the way back to the days of MySpace, when, in his words, "I was a bit less suable than I am now".

The women, some of whom were teenagers when they encountered Toback, told the Times that the writer and director - who helmed such films as 1997's Two Girls and a Guy, starring a young Robert Downey Jr., and earned an Oscar nomination for his script for 1991's mobster biopic Bugsy - would often approach them on the street with a line about how he could turn them into a "star".

One woman told the paper that she was an aspiring actress when she met Toback in New York City in 2003.

Numerous women's accounts describe similar circumstances, with Toback luring a young or aspiring actress into a meeting and then proceeding to use very graphic sexual language under the guise of describing a role or film before engaging in some sort of masturbation.

Louise Post, who now works as a musician in the band Veruca Salt, said she met the film director while she was a student in 1987. He also claimed that it was "biologically impossible" for him to engage in such behaviour in recent decades due to his diabetes and a heart condition. Reports of how Weinstein allegedly sexually harassed and assaulted women for years have been fueling outrage from members of the entertainment industry this month and women throughout the world are coming forward to share their own experiences in the workplace.

The actress Echo Danon said that she encountered Toback while in his trailer on the set of his movie Black and White, which was released in 1999. "I am very ill at ease", he would she said before starting to cry, " it is the objective of the exercise", he would have-he replied. "You have been violated".

One alleged victim, whose identity remains anonymous, said she believed she would be auditioning for Toback when he invited her to his hotel room in 2000. Wanting to act in an edgy independent film, Conn agreed to meet with Toback in Central Park to discuss his process. After he allegedly pressured her to remove her clothes, she claimed she eventually did after she protested. "I thought: Maybe if I told my story, there's an opportunity to prevent some women from being targeted". He essentially goes up to women and says, "Hey, I'm James Toback, and I'm a famous director, and I feel like there's a connection between us". Kamin agreed, thinking that if she "could just get through this part then [she] was going to be in a movie and [she] would be a successful actress".

After the Times report broke accusing Toback of sexual misconduct, many in Hollywood came out to condemn the director.

According to his biography on IMDb, Toback has 17 screenplay/writing credits, and 12 credits for directing. Weinstein has also been accused of rape by at least five women, including actress Rose McGowan.
