Washington D.C. [United States], Oct 22: United States President Donald Trump has appreciated and thanked all five of his living predecessors on Saturday for their work to raise funds to help victims of recent hurricanes.

Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter attended Saturday night's event, named "Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal", at Reed Arena at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Jim McGrath, spokesman for former president George H.W. Bush, confirmed the figure Saturday.

Grammy award victor Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at the concert.

The event will feature country music artists Alabama, the Gatlin Brothers, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keene and others.

The last time the five were together was in 2013, when Obama was still in office, at the dedication of George W. Bush's presidential library in Dallas. Donations are coordinated through his foundation which says "100 cents of every dollar "donated will help hurricane victims, funds distributed through programs like the Houston Harvey Relief Fund and the Rebuild Texas Fund".

However, he recorded a two-minute video message for the appeal which was rather more collegial in tone.

He adds, "This wonderful effort reminds us that we truly are one nation under God, all unified by our values and devotion to one another". Clinton and George W. Bush combined to seek donations after Haiti's 2011 natural disaster. Since then, Hurricane Irma raked through Puerto Rico and Florida, and Hurricane Maria struck a second blow to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"And as heartbreaking as the tragedies that took place here in Texas and in Florida, in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have been, what we've also seen is the spirit of America at its best: When ordinary people step up and do extraordinary things".

"We're big fans of both Georges", said one couple to KBTX.

This marks the second time that the five living former living Presidents gathered.
