The X-Men spin-off, due for release in 2018, stars Game of Thrones star Williams as Rahne Sinclair, aka Wolfsbane.

"Whilst it's definitely a departure from the X-Men movies, the fans won't be disappointed".

It's finally here! After being teased yesterday afternoon, the first teaser trailer for New Mutants is out and looks electrifying.

Watch the trailer above now. The creepy factor is set early - long, dark industrial hallways, followed by a not-so-comforting-looking Alice Braga telling our five young mutants - Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams, The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy, Stranger Things' Charlie Heaton, 13 Reasons Why's Henry Zaga, and The Original's Blu Hunt - that they are there because they are unsafe.

Like many a good horror movie, the film takes place with limited locations, in this case it's a secret facility where the five fledgling mutants are being held against their will.

This film is one of three X-Men movies that Fox has scheduled to be released next year, along with Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The group is "mentored" by Dr. Cecilia Reyes (Alice Braga, I am Legend).

The New Mutants is expected to draw inspiration from "The Demon Bear Saga", the influential 1984 Marvel Comics storyline by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz in which the teenage students of Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters are isolated by a freak snowstorm, forcing them to overcome their differences to save themselves and their teammate Danielle Moonstar from a demonic bear that killed her parents.

The first New Mutants trailer is everything fans could have hoped for, promising a whole world of terror as the Demon Bear's wrath is unleashed. But with that said, this first New Mutants teaser will undoubtedly whet the appetites of X-Men fans looking for more unique spinoffs featuring the mutant superheroes.
