Hundreds of Instagram users are reporting problems with the U.S. social network website every minute, DownDetector data reveals.

We've reached out to Facebook for more information about the outage and will update the story when we hear back.

According to a statement from Facebook to CNET, the social networking website said they are acknowledging that some users are experiencing trouble.

Services tied to Facebook, like SocialFlow, have reported issues with the platform's publishing API, too. This site is showing that over 12,000 people have reported issues with their account today, first beginning at 8:20 A.M. EST.

If you're noticing some error messages or sluggish loading speeds on Instagram or Facebook this morning, you're not the only one.

A total of 40% of those people were reporting a total blackout of the site, while 36% said they were having login issues.

In some cases, users were simply unable to use certain basic functions, such as posting on either Facebook or Instagram. Outage reports from DownDetector were showing that the issues were occurring worldwide but especially in the United States and Europe.
