Rian Johnson wrote and directed The Last Jedi starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Davis, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. We got to see Rey training with a lightsaber, Luke freaked out by her power level, Kylo Ren facing off against Leia in a space battle, Finn and Phasma going head to head, and much more.

"But it's gooooood.", Johnson wrote in response to a fan asking how the trailer relates to comments he made in August about avoiding all marketing for The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017. Some may argue it's cuter than the creatures featured in The Last Jedi trailer - porgs - which drew both adoration and ire online.

We also see Rey, the trilogy's new protagonist, seemingly agreeing to switch to the Dark Side after another confrontation with Ren.

With the release of the trailer, tickets for the film, which hits theaters in the USA on December 15, 2017, are on sale everywhere movie tickets are sold. "It didn't scare me enough then".

The footage also sees Carrie Fisher, who died at age 60 a year ago, looks fearful and deep in contemplation as Kylo Ren, is considering blowing up her ship. IMDB even lists Tom Hardy as Stormtrooper (rumored) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a voice - everyone wants in on the "Star Wars" super destroyer bandwagon.

The official trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been released - sending fans into a frenzy on social media.

Boyega has previously said of Fisher that the film "sends her off in a very unbelievable way".
