Snapchat's new Context Cards use Snaps for spontaneous discovery

Snap said many locations will also have Stories integrated into their Context Cards. So, for example, if your friend is eating avocado toast at a trendy new brunch spot, you might swipe up to see multiple informational Cards - including directions, a phone number and website, the ability to reserve a table in advance, or calling an Uber to go there immediately. Snaps included in Context Cards are those that have been tagged with Snapchat's venue-specific geofilters or any post that has been submitted to the Our Story section. With the partners listed above, you'll be able to see travel tips and well reviewed places near your location.

Snapchat has teamed up with several online services to introduce a feature called Context Cards.

Many Snapchat users took to Twitter to express their frustration using the hashtag #snapchatdown over the outage of the photo-sharing app. Initial partners include: Foursquare, Uber, Lyft, OpenTable, TripAdvisor, Resy, Michelin's reservation service Booktable, and goop, which provides info from its city guides.

For launch, context cards will be available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on both Android and iOS.

Snap says it aims to always show you the most relevant information. By adding business info, reservation booking, reviews, and other services directly to Snapchat, the company is effectively making the case that its users could bypass Google entirely for certain types of common searches.

Over 77% of Snapchatter in the United Kingdom are over 18, 43% of this is made of parents. Snapchat, which boasts a young-skewing audience, averaged 173 million daily users worldwide in the second quarter.
