According to Samsung, the phone has been engineered with unused components from the Galaxy Note7. The South Korean smartphone manufacturing company didn't host any special event for launching the new J series phones, instead just listed the device on the Samsung India website with the specifications. The company hasn't revealed the availability details of the device as of yet, but will soon do so in the days to come. There's a "Where to Buy" option as well but it is now disabled.

Samsung has included a couple of features that should assist users - Smart Manager and Ultra Data Saving Mode. Additionally, the smartphone comes with features like Smart Manager for automatic memory clean up and management.

Samsung Galaxy J2 2017 Edition features a 4.7-inch qHD Super AMOLED display having a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.

Storage: Samsung Galaxy J2 (2017) comes with 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

Rear camera: Galaxy J2 (2017) comes with 5-megapixel camera at the rear panel. There's a 2MP front camera for selfies. The dual-SIM handset also supports USB OTG (on-the-go), which is a rarity in this segment. Connectivity options include: 4G, GPRS/EDGE, 3G, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, GLONASS and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

For years now, Samsung has always followed the launch of the Galaxy S phones with a rugged version Active version.

It is noteworthy that customers who pre-registered will get a free fast-charging battery pack and a free back cover, from the 13th of October, 2017.

The Galaxy J2 2017 comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and do not expect to get any update on this phone as Samsung does not focus on delivering updates to low-end devices. Samsung has offered the newest handset in two hues - Metallic Gold and Absolute Black.
