Playboy's November/December 2017 issue is avaialble October 31.

Rau, 26, is not the first trans woman to appear in Playboy but she is the first to be dubbed a "Playmate", a coveted title among the publication's models.

The latest issue of Playboy will feature a transgender playmate, which will mark the first transgender person to be on the magazine's cover in their 64-year history.

"Being a woman is just being a woman", Rau told Playboy in an interview accompanying her photoshoot.

When I was doing this shoot, I was thinking of all those hard days in my childhood.

Describing as her role as a Playmate as being "the most handsome compliment I've ever received" Ines admits she's happy to embrace nudity.

Rau has appeared in Vogue Italian and W magazine, but called this opportunity the "most attractive compliment I've ever received".

She added to the magazine: "I lived a long time without saying I was transgender".

Rau has appeared in Vogue Italia and W magazine, and has walked the runway for top designers like Balmain. "It's a collector's issue and it's going to get a lot of visibility and if I can get people educated on this fact that trans girls are just girls, then that's great".

"When I open a Playboy, I expect to see women, not some guy who identifies as a woman, or some former male who has had the surgery to become female", says Bob Reid. "It's a salvation to speak the truth about yourself, whether it's your gender, sexuality, whatever", Rau continued. "But if I can help others to love themselves then it's worth it".

Rau has been shot for the magazine before, having appeared in Playboy's May 2014 issue, which, according to The Indpependent, "championed a more progressive understanding of gender as non-binary". When I look back at it all, what I went through was tragic. We don't want to tell you how to parent or anything, just an idea.

That's one of the many reasons Rau encourages others to be who they are. Nudity is a celebration of the human being without all the excess.

And it's not her first time in the mag. Serving as November 2017 Playmate, the Paris, France, native spoke to the magazine about what it meant to her to change perceptions about beauty and acceptance.
