"Amblier is possibly armed with a 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun and should be considered risky", read a statement from the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Ambler - a hunter familiar with the rural area where he was last seen - spent about 15 years as a deputy with the LaSalle County Sheriff's Department, Templeton says.

Shortly after noon Tuesday, Plainfield police received a state police emergency response message regarding Ambler, indicating he was riding in a stolen semi-tractor trailer and possibly en route to the northwest portion of Plainfield. He allegedly removed the driver at gunpoint and stole the vehicle. The victim turned over his vehicle, a burgundy 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe with license plate S785884, and the offender immediately fled the area in an unknown direction. Simonton said that as part of his release, Ambler was not allowed to contact the victims involved in his alleged crimes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 815-284-6631.

Authorities are searching for Lowell "Max" Ambler, 46, who has active arrest warrants in Lee and LaSalle counties for violating his bond and for violating of an order of protection, according to Plainfield police.

Officers spotted a man matching Ambler's description running from a hunting blind in the wooded area where the vehicle was found, the release said. He allegedly entered the mother's home in rural Lee County on August 26.

A manhunt continues in the southwest suburbs for a former sheriff's deputy charged with home invasion and kidnapping.

On Tuesday, Plainfield North High School, located near 119th Street and 248th Avenue, was placed on soft lockdown as authorities searched form him. But on Sunday, October 1st he reportedly contacted the girl's mother, and a warrant was then issued for his arrest. Law enforcement has been looking for him since.

"My worst fear is that if he bails out, he will think he has noting left to lose and come to kill me or my daughter", she told authorities.

Ambler, also a former Earlville police officer, is white, 6-foot, 200 to 230 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.
