Man thrashes girl for asking him to be quiet

Mumbai: A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and suffered a fractured nose after a man repeatedly hit her just because she objected to the loud noises made by him and his friends in Kurla-Nehru Nagar area. The man has been identified as Imran Shahid Shaikh, who lives in the same building and reportedly her neighbour. The family members then approached the Nehru Nagar police station where an FIR was registered under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by risky weapons or means) and Shaikh was arrested.

The video went viral and later, the police said they had received a medical report mentioning the injuries sustained by the girl.

The CCTV footage showed passersby remaining mute spectators.


The girl, however, told national TV channels that Shaikh was harassing her for the last few days and that when she complained to her mother about it, she sent her elder sister to talk to the man's mother. Then, some people reached out to help her.

After taking to the nearby hospital, victim was declared suffering from nose fracture.

According to a police official, the incident took place on October 17 near the SRA Building in Shramjeevi Nagar at around 7 pm when the girl was going to her class at Adarsh Nagar in the Thakkar Bappa Colony, Chembur with a friend. She asked him to speak softly but Shaikh got agitated and allegedly began to assault her with a metal object.


Shaikh threatened her after the incident and fled from the spot. Seeing the girl lying fainted, they rushed her to Rajawadi hospital.

After the 16-year-old girl's parents approached the police, an Friday was filed against the accused boy under IPC sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by risky weapons or means) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
