Investigators found material used to make exploding targets in containers in Paddock's vehicle, along with about 1,600 rounds of ammunition, Lombardo said.

But Stephen Paddock would ultimately never come, according to the website.

According to a report on Thursday by celebrity news site TMZ, which broke the story, Paddock made two separate room bookings at the Blackstone Hotel on South Michigan Avenue, requesting a "view room" in each case.

The C lark County official said the authorities have looked at gunman Stephen Paddock's personal life, political affiliation, economic situation and any potential radicalisation.

Also, the weekend before the Las Vegas bloodbath, Paddock rented via Airbnb - and checked into - a condo in a 21-story luxury building in Las Vegas that overlooked the Life is lovely alternative music festival, Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Tuesday.

The hotel overlooks Grant Park, the location of the yearly Lollapalooza music festival. Most hotels in the area, however, have an obstructed view of Fenway - or no view at all.

A second music festival, in which Kiwi music sensation Lorde was a headline act, is now at the centre of investigations into the motive and movements of Las Vegas massacre gunman Stephen Paddock.

Officials said they haven't found evidence that Paddock traveled to either Chicago or Boston.

Where other mass killers have left behind a trail of plain-sight clues that help investigators quickly understand what drove them to violence, Paddock, 64, had almost no close friends, social media presence or other clear connections to the broader world.

Danley told FBI agents Wednesday she had not noticed any changes in his mental state or indications he could become violent, the federal official said.

"He never said anything to me or took any action that I was aware of that I understood in any way to be a warning that something awful like this was going to happen", she said in a statement read by her lawyer. "That's the one in this one, and we are not there yet", McCabe said. She was visiting her native Philippines.

Monday: Investigators said that they are looking for the "roommate" of the shooter - Marilou Danley - and describe her as a person of interest.

She said she loved Paddock as a "kind, caring, quiet man" and hoped they would have a future together. "You can't ever guarantee something but you also can't not go about your life as you would normally and you can't let these sick people win", said Radcliffe.

Staff at The Ogden have not been able to confirm that Paddock stayed at the hotel.
