As for the goalkeepers, David de Gea, Ederson and Hugo Lloris have all impressed.

Carragher delivered his verdicts to the Daily Telegraph.

And here is what the Liverpool legend came up with - and he gave his explanation on each selection.

Arsene Wenger appears to be resigned to Arsenal v Liverpool being moved to Christmas Eve. "A great defensive record under Mauricio Pochettino".

Under Conte's management, Azpilicueta formed an impressive centre-half partnership with Gary Cahill and David Luiz as part of a back three to help Chelsea win the title last season. "Alongside him, Belgium team-mate Vertonghen was not far behind".

Former Liverpool star Carragher has hailed Azpilicueta as one of the Premier League's best defenders.

Philippe Coutinho, N'Golo Kante and "the standout player of the start of this season", Kevin de Bruyne, star in midfield while Eden Hazard, Sadio Mane and Harry Kane make up a formidable front three.

"The defensive player in the middle".

Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have all dominated the Premier League title between them since 2013 - albeit for Leicester's fairytale triumph - despite United having struggled initially when Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

Speaking at the club's training ground at London Colney he said: "Yes I know that we have to adapt to the schedule dictated by the televisions, but overall I would say if that happens personally I think no game should be played after 2 o'clock [at the] latest on Christmas Eve on the 24th because Christmas Day in England is 25. He adds goals, pace, assists".

Centre-forward: Harry Kane (Tottenham)'We are three or four years in now and I think we will be saying the same in 10 years about him being the main striker in the Premier League'.
