With so many big hitters in the phone market including the new Galaxy Note 8 and upcoming iPhone X, can HTC compete with a new U11 Plus? From the new device everyone is waiting for a screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9, but today the network leaked the pictures of him that break those hopes to smithereens.

The resolution on this giant panel is Quad-HD enough to fill every inch with more than enough pixels. The next is thought to be the HTC U11 Plus so here's what we know about the phone's release date and specs. Of course, this is certainly possible - just look at the 6-inch LG V30, which, thanks to its thin bezels, is comparable to the 5.5-inch U11 in size. The headphone jack could also be missing on this one, which sadly is now on the verge of extinction. The invitations didn't go into the specifics regarding what HTC would be showing off, but it is likely the U11 Plus. Let's see how quick it manages to update the latter two devices to Android Oreo.

One key question with a screen like this is whether HTC will ditch its BoomSound speakers to get a bezel-free design.

We first wrote about the HTC U11 Plus almost a month ago, when the device was first rumored to launch in November.

We perhaps weren't expecting something new so soon from HTC but the firm appears to have sent out invitations to an event in Taipei on 2 November. Instead, there will still be a 12Mp camera with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation. However, in the front, there will be an 8MP unit, which is a downgrade from the 16MP snapper on the U11.

Other specifications of the smartphone include a Qualcomm processor 835, 4 or 6 GB RAM, 64 or 128 GB of permanent memory and a battery of 4000 mAh, and this is very good.

"It's also the kind of Pixel 2 XL phone HTC could have built", he added. There haven't been any rumors regarding whether or not this version of the phone will feature Edge Sense support.
