That being said, with cheap data rates, people are making the most out of video calling services today.

We're starting to roll out integrated video calling to first-generation Pixel, Android One, and Nexus devices, and it will also be available on Pixel 2 phones.

Google is rolling out a new feature, enabled by its Duo app, that makes video calling a more central feature of the phone. "You can now start a video call directly from where you call or text message your friends, through your Phone, Contacts, and Android Messages apps", Jan Jedrzejowicz Product Manager, Phone app said in a blog post.

Google's been working hard to bridge this gap as much as possible, and in its latest attempt to do this, you can finally send videos and music to your Chromecast-enabled devices from the Google Assistant on your phone. It provides you with general information about your battery and how you are using it.

Still on integration, users of the Truecaller app now have the additional ability to do other things besides using it to identify or stop annoying calls.

To make video calls from these apps, the phone manufacturer needs to enable video calling.

With the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, Google also introduced a revamped version of the eponymous Pixel Launcher, with fresh bouncy animations and expanded dock functionality in tow. If not, Google Duo will connect your video call to anyone with the app installed. Only if they have the Pixel launcher set as a system app will Google Now and the homepage and all that good stuff appear.
