The second new Chrome security feature is a well-known tool named Chrome Cleanup Tool, previously offered as a standalone app. "We can now detect and remove more unwanted software than ever before, meaning more people can benefit from Chrome Cleanup", Product Manager Phillippe Rivard noted, but added that this feature is not meant to supplant regular antivirus solutions, as it only removes software that doesn't comply with Google's unwanted software policy.

However, from now on worries as Google has taken up your side with this latest update of chrome to fighting back such nasty threats and has introduced a clean and safer web experience for its Chrome users. In the past month, this feature has helped millions of people recover from unwanted settings.

Google also made a decision to completely redesign Chrome Cleanup to make it both simpler and more powerful. It prompts you when unwanted software is found using ESET's detection engine, and gives you a way to remove the same software as well as restore Chrome to its default settings with a click of a button. When an extension malicious change this parameter, the user experience is diminished and may even become risky because the user may be directed to the hacked sites. It was indeed annoying for the users and Google wants to improve the user experience.

How does Chrome detect something wrong? Harmful software can be removed quickly and easily. Called Chrome Cleanup, the feature acts like a built-in antivirus for the Chrome web browser.

Chrome Cleanup has also gained a malware detection engine from antivirus firm ESET, which works in tandem with Chrome's sandbox technology.

Although Chrome Cleanup works like an antivirus, Google warns users that it's not meant to be a general-purpose antivirus. Also, only selected parts of OS are being scanned as compared to full a blown security solution.
