In gruesome multiple murders, an 82-year-old widow, her three daughters aged 38 to 56 as well as a guard were found stabbed to death at their house in east Delhi on Saturday morning, police said. The five were found dead in house number 1/561 on G.T. Road in Shahdara's Mansarovar Park area.

Police said that a cupboard kept in the room where the women were found murdered, was ransacked, but nothing was found missing. The deceased have been identified as Urmila (65), Sangeet Gupta (43), Nupur Jindal (35), Anjali Jindal (33) and security guard Rakesh (50). The security guard was identified as Rakesh Kumar, 42.

Prima facie, the police suspected property dispute to be the reason behind the tragic incident, though family members of the victims have claimed that it was the job of the outsiders. He said, "Crime scene indicates friendly entry, can not say the motive behind the murders now. The bodies have been sent for post mortem and a case of murder has been registered", Prasad said.

According to the Delhi police, a family of seven brothers was living near Jindal Mills. His aunt's throat had been slit.

Relatives said no one heard any sound. Urmila's husband Brij Bhushan had passed away couple of years ago.

However, the police has said that they are investigating the matter from all angles.

Those who knew the family also said that they had never got any inkling of a family dispute. The deceased women belonged to a family having oil business in the area.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Ravindra Yadav and Special CP (Law & Order), North Zone, SBK Singh visited the spot.
