Famous billionaire wants to "overthrow" Donald trump

Steyer was one of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's chief financial backer during her presidential campaign.

Tom Steyer, a billionaire investor and Democratic donor, has launched a TV ad campaign to impeach President Trump. It's time to begin impeachment proceedings.

In the ad released Friday, Steyer says Trump has edged the country toward nuclear war, obstructed justice at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and threatened to shut down news organizations.

"We need to impeach and remove from office such a risky President", he said.


"Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, a co-author of the Federalist Papers - and an immigrant himself - argued that "high crimes and misdemeanors" could be defined as 'abuse or violation of some public trust, '" the letter reads.

"Trump threatens our Constitution, our freedoms and our lives".

Mr Steyer also blamed the members of the Congress in the ad, saying that "people in Congress and his own administration know this president is a clear and present danger who is mentally unstable and armed with nuclear weapons, and they do nothing". Dianne Feinstein, a fellow Democrat.

Other Democrats believe impeachment efforts are ill-advised because they will fail and could energize Republicans.


Mr Steyer is a leading Democratic activist and fundraiser.

As of now, though, he seems squarely focused on getting Trump removed from office.

He personally spent more than $163 million in the last two election cycles supporting Democratic candidates, but the Democratic bundler has since moved "beyond" environmental issues. "Join us" - he wrote and posted a video with the appropriate treatment.
