The two players in question are defender Danny Rose and winger Erik Lamela who have both suffered from long-term injuries and are now back in first-team training.

A source said: "The lure of United is too strong for him and if he had the choice he would pick United hands down".

Both full-back Rose and winger Lamela have had a frustrating time with injuries over the past year and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been forced to make do without the pair.

Danny Rose and @ErikLamela train with the rest of the team at Hotspur Way today as they continue to progress with their rehabilitation.

RAY WILKINS has named his combined Liverpool and Manchester United XI.

Rose caused waves when he openly criticised Tottenham's wage structure and lack of ambition in a newspaper interview before the start of the season.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy fined Rose and made him issue a public apology.

Rose rocked Spurs after criticising the clubs transfer policy in the summer while he also admitted he would consider a move in order to earn a more competitive salary and win trophies.

Rose's arrival is likely to mean the end of Luke Shaw's career at Old Trafford and United are likely to cash in on the former Southampton man - who will have 12 months left on his contract by that point. Rose returned to training in April but did not feel that he could perform with his normal explosive power.

United value Rose at around £45m and are hopeful of concluding a deal for the full-back before the World Cup.
