Microsoft's virtual assistant is spreading its digital tendrils into fresh avenues with news that Cortana has now been incorporated into Skype. It will be rolled out to more platforms in additional countries across the globe down the road. I'm sure this will once again raise questions about privacy, as Cortana will be scanning every message you send on Skype. If you've ever used Google's Allo app, you'll know what it's all about.

In addition, Cortana is being added to your Skype as a contact you can message directly, if you choose. It's only available in the iOS and Android versions of the app.

At least for users in the U.S. to begin with, and those on iOS and Android phones for that matter, although doubtless these are the first steps towards a global cross-platform rollout for all Skype software.
