Bucs' Jameis Winston on playing Sunday: 'I'm ready'

Jameis Winston threw to receivers Friday for the first time in practice this week, and the Buccaneers' quarterback seemed to send a message to the media on one snap. Koetter apparently liked what he saw, naming Winston as the team's Week 7 starter immediately after practice finished.

Winston is dealing with a minor AC joint sprain of his throwing shoulder, but throughout the week he's been building up optimism about his availability, so this isn't too much of a surprise. Accounting for both the matchup and the injury, Winston makes for a shaky starting option outside of two-QB leagues.

In a report by Greg Auman of TampaBay.com, Koetter said that Jameis Winston will not be risking any "further damage" on his shoulder if they let the quarterback play the Bills. "Jameis is our starter".

The No. 1 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft has thrown for 1,259 yards through five games and has thrown seven touchdowns to three interceptions.

"I'm ready to get back and hit somebody", Alexander said Friday, via Tampa Bay's team website.
