Audi has ambitions to redefine the Gran Turismo, and has infused its new A7 Sportback with a more versatile interior, advanced technologies and sportier driving dynamics.

For now, the new A7 is only available with Audi's 3-liter V6 TFSI unit churning out 250 kW (340 hp) and 550 Nm (368.8 lb-ft) of torque.

Coming to do battle against the likes of Porsche Panamera - its group arch-rival, if you wish - and the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the new 2018 Audi A7 also takes after the new 2017 A8 limousine. Arrives in the UK Q2 2018. The India launch details are yet to be revealed but expect the new A7 will most likely arrive in the second half of 2018. New generation has been configuring and servicing equipment grille, optics, arrows, and enlarged air intakes in the front.

The top A7 trims gets the HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light.

With its long bonnet, long wheelbase and short overhangs the A7 Sportback looks lean and muscular. Visually, the auto gets a new design language that takes its inspiration from the Prologue concept. All colours, upholstery materials and inlays reflect the new aesthetic. The MMI navigation plus system also comes with Audi's famed virtual cockpit and its 12.3-inch screen behind the steering wheel. Rear passengers also enjoy more head room.

On the technological front, the big change is the inclusion of the new Audi AI remote parking pilot, activated via smartphone. The driver can get out of the auto before launching the function via the myAudi app on their smartphone. They are split into three packages: the Audi AI parking package (gradual introduction beginning in 2018), the City assist package with the new crossing assist, and the Tour assist package. An adaptive cruise-control system that can provide steering inputs to center the vehicle in its lane will also be on the menu, along with an "efficiency assistant" that coaches the driver into saving fuel. All driver assistance systems feature improved control mechanisms.

An optional extra with the new A7 Sportback is voice recognition. With the V6 engines, this uses a 48-volt primary electrical system.

0-62mph happens in a brisk 5.3 seconds, and at the top end its electronic limiter will hold you back at the familiar 155mph mark. A seven-speed twin-clutch S tronic gearbox is standard, which is mated to Audi's quattro four-wheel drive transmission. At a later stage, the company will introduce six- and four-cylinder engines on both petrol and diesel versions.

With its comprehensive connectivity, the Audi A7 is perfectly equipped for long-distance touring.

Inspired like the new A8 sedan by the prologue concept, the new 4-door hatchback has sharper lines and a more athletic silhouette than before.

Every Audi A7 features 10.1-inch display sitting above the center console as it follows the steps of its A8 sibling.
