Manchester United and Barcelona have been strongly linked with his signature, but recent reports have insisted that Arsenal have as much chance of keeping him as they have of losing him.

The German global is inside the final 12 months of his contract, and has looked destined for an exit before next season, but may well end up staying in North London.

The representative of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has confirmed the Germany worldwide wishes to remain in the Premier League for the next two or three seasons.

Ozil's representative Dr Erkut Sogut, however, suggested in quotes to Turkish media outlet Fanatik that the German could well be staying put.

Ozil's contract at the Emirates expires at the end of the season, meaning that he is free to negotiate a pre-contract deal with clubs outside England from January. Our contact with Arsenal continues and we are moving in a positive direction.

Inter Milan and Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing the former Real Madrid star, however his £350,000-a-week wage demands are a stumbling block.

The Germany global is out of contract at the end of the season and is free to discuss terms with a foreign club once the transfer window reopens in January.

Ozil has come under fire this season after a disappointing start to the campaign.

"Talks with Arsenal are ongoing, negotiations are going well". Would his extension be a good advert in bringing further top players to the club?
