Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh at Rani Mukerji's father Ram Mukherjee's funeral

Actress father, filmmaker Ram Mukerji, passed away in the early hours of Sunday Rani Mukerji's father, yesteryear director, producer and screenwriter Ram Mukerji, passed away on Sunday.

Sharing the news of her husband's demise, Krishna Mukherjee said, "His blood pressure dropped suddenly and he was admitted to Breach Candy hospital where doctors declared him dead at 5 am".

Ram had launched Rani Mukerji in the Bengali film Biyer Phool in the year 1996.

Ram Mukherjee's cremation was held on Sunday afternoon at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle West. Rani, along with husband Aditya Chopra, was present at the last rites.

Actors Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and Anil Kapoor were among the few others who came along to pay their last respect to Ram Mukherjee.

Ram Mukerji worked in Hindi and Bengali cinema. He also went on to produce her Bollywood debut film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat in 1997. Although not much has been revealed about the cause of death but from what we hear, he passed away in sleep around 4 am today.

Also one of the founders of Filmaya Studios in Mumbai, Mukherjee is a man who will be missed sorely by the film fraternity.
