Two people killed and four injured following a crash in cork

Two people, believed to be American tourists, have been killed in a crash near Blarney, while three others, including one child, were killed in a crash near Claremorris, Co.

Meanwhile, a separate collision involving a vehicle and a truck on the N17 Galway to Sligo road at Lisduff, at about 12.30pm, saw three people pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mayo accident happened at 1pm when a auto hit a truck on the N17 road where two women and a child of one of the women all tragically lost their lives.

The driver of the auto in which the man and woman died was also injured, along with another woman who was the third passenger in the vehicle.

The man and a woman in their 60s, who were passengers in one of the cars, were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was uninjured.

The crash happened this morning between Cork and Mallow. It is understood they were visitors from the U.S. who were with their partners.

They were being treated at Cork University Hospital and their injuries are described as non life-threatening.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who witnessed either crash to get in contact with them.
